Bath Rugby Foundation recently visited the beautiful Balearic island of Mallorca to attend a Top of the Col event which was delivered by partner Sport Ecosse Events. Participants were based in the 5-star Hotel of Zafiro Palace Hotel, Alcudia, where cyclists of all ranges enjoyed 3 days of fully supported rides of varying distances.
Some 50 cyclists enjoyed the good weather, good food, great company and fabulous cycling that comes with Mallorca. Routes included The Tramuntana Mountains, Puig Major, the famous Sa Colabra climb, Cap Formentor Lighthouse and easier rides around Alcudia, Port de Pollenca and Pollenca Town in the flatlands in the North of the island.
The support crew were made up of HITZ Learning Academy participants, Bath Rugby Foundation volunteers and staff from Sport Ecosse Events, Top of the Col and Link FX who organised signage, vehicles, water and snacks for the cycle.
“Bath Rugby Foundation cyclists have just returned from a few days cycling in Mallorca successfully raising money for the Foundation.
The accommodation was outstanding, only surpassed by the routes, (Sa Colabra never gets any easier, but it’s truly spectacular and a ‘must’ for any cyclist).
With the help of Sport Ecosse, 50 cyclists managed to find the perfect balance between cycling and socialising. As a group we covered thousands of miles and had thousands of laughs (with the occasional ‘why is this so hard thrown in!’ It wouldn’t be a challenge without a bit of sweat and leg ache”
